I guess television noticed I wasn't paying attention to it so it followed me
to the gas station. Maybe someday they will show me target ads for tech
jobs or the like.
The obvious solution is to move to Oregon, where you can't pump your own gas (and thus can't be subjected to such absurdities).

In the UK, we have a popular phrase that always appears in the Daily Mail: "it's political correctness gone mad."
In the US, I would like to coin the phrase: "It's putting televisions where they don't belong!"
