Green: source orbit, eccentric
Red: destination orbit, differently eccentricity, in another direction, still in-plane
Blue: transfer trajectory using fixed-direction control law
Did you know that the velocity track of ANY orbit is always a CIRCLE that sits in a plane through the origin? If it encloses the origin then you have an ellipse, kissing it gets you a parabola, shifting away gets you a hyperbola.
